COVID-19 Impact Fund

Support the people living in the Glenelg Shire community struggling from the economic fallout of COVID-19

When facing difficult times, it can be empowering to take action and make a positive impact. As we navigate the challenges of social distancing and self-quarantine, it is natural to feel isolated and helpless. However, even during these uncertain times, there are ways to help those in need and make a difference.

By taking action and being mindful of our community, we can support each other and make a meaningful difference during this crisis.

Here are three ways you can contribute and make a positive impact during the COVID-19 crisis:

  1. Donate to United Way Glenelg COVID-19 Impact Fund. 100% of funds donated towards the United Way Glenelg COVID19 impact fund will be distributed to the Samaritan Fund through our partner agency Portland District Health. Portland District Health is uniquely position in the community to meet the targeted needs and has a proven track record of supporting the community through the partnership with United Way Glenelg. United Way COVID-19 Impact Fund help ensure vital relief is accessible.
  2. Reach out to your neighbours and offer to help with groceries, errands, or other necessities.
  3. Take care of your mental health. If you’re stuck at home, keep busy with hobbies, try out arts and crafts, pick up an old musical instrument, organize family game nights, and step outside for fresh air and exercise. You can’t take care of others unless you take care of yourself.

Even in these uncertain times, no one is powerless to make a difference. Small acts, taken together across the Glenelg Shire community, can change the course of the pandemic, bolster those facing economic challenges, and protect the most vulnerable.
