Community Resilience Fund

Addressing urgent needs today for a better tomorrow

Together, we respond. Together, we recover.

The Community Resilience Fund is United Way Glenelg’s rapid-response program, created to support our community in times of crisis. From floods and bushfires to severe weather events, the fund provides immediate assistance, boosts local recovery efforts, and ensures resources reach where they’re needed most. By working together, we can keep our community strong, connected, and ready to face challenges.

United Way Glenelg has established the Community Resilience Fund (CRF) as a flexible, rapid-response program to provide timely support to the Glenelg Shire community during emergencies and natural disasters such as floods, bushfires, and severe weather events. The fund recognises the vital role that local organisations and volunteers play in disaster response and recovery, ensuring that resources are directed to where they are most effective. By strengthening the capacity of local groups and boosting morale, the CRF helps foster a resilient and united community prepared to face challenges together.

The CRF provides assistance in a range of forms to meet immediate and longer-term needs. This may includes emergency care packages containing essentials such as food, water, hygiene products, and blankets, as well as reimbursement for volunteers’ fuel, food, and basic supplies while they assist in recovery efforts. It also supports community wellbeing initiatives designed to lift spirits and bring people together, and may include free coffee mornings, sausage sizzles, and local gatherings.

Support is prioritised for groups operating within the Shire that are actively engaged in disaster response and recovery, with an emphasis on collaboration across community organisations, councils, emergency services, and local businesses. This collective approach strengthens coordination and helps secure both financial and in-kind contributions, enabling a faster and more comprehensive response.

In times of natural disaster, United Way Glenelg also accepts donations on behalf of the community, ensuring funds are managed locally and distributed where they are needed most. This approach provides a trusted channel for individuals, businesses, and partners who want to contribute, giving confidence that every dollar directly supports community-led response and relief efforts. By coordinating resources in this way, we can quickly mobilise support and help our communities when they need it most.
