United Way Glenelg’s Little FREE Pantries are a simple, local solution to help ease food insecurity. Located in neighbourhoods across the Glenelg Shire, these outdoor cupboards operate on the principle of “Take what you need, give what you can.” They are always open, always accessible, and rely on the generosity of the community to keep them stocked.

The pantries provide a safety net for anyone doing it tough, whether it’s a family short on groceries before payday, someone experiencing unexpected hardship, or a neighbour needing a meal in an emergency. They are filled with non-perishable foods, toiletries, and other everyday essentials, with contributions coming from local residents, schools, businesses, and service clubs.

Beyond meeting practical needs, the Little FREE Pantries also foster community connection and kindness. They give people a way to both receive help and contribute, creating a visible reminder that support is never far away. By making giving and receiving as easy as opening a cupboard door, the pantries encourage dignity, compassion, and shared responsibility for the wellbeing of our community.

If you wish to donate, simply purchase non-perishable, unopened items within the best-before/use-by-date and place them directly in the pantry.
